The California Drought
Commissioning and Art Direction for American Vogue
Photographer George Steinmetz embarked on a survey flight over Owens lake in order to explore the potential devastation of California’s worst drought in recorded history. In partnership with the Department of Water and Power, Steinmetz was able to capture the candy-colored dreamscapes the Owens Valley has evolved into following its draining in 1924.
